Day 2 in Venice was so much fun! We happened to b Day 2 in Venice was so much fun!

We happened to be there for Mother’s Day and I told my husband and kids that all I wanted was a day when I didn’t have to decide where to go or navigate GPS 😂

And honestly, I couldn’t have imagined a better day!

🔹Murano
🔹Burano
🔹Gondola Ride from Piazza San Marco

Dinner: Trattoria dai Fioi
Gelato: Gelateria Gallonetto

The rest of the day we enjoyed wandering the streets of Venice.

I had heard mixed reviews about this city - some people loved it, some didn’t think it was worth the visit. Add me to the list of people who loved it. 😊

Venice is beautiful. Water everywhere, old buildings, bridges… it’s just so charming.

Yes, there were crowds, but we found that they were generally concentrated in the more touristy spots of the city. Walk a few blocks in any direction to find empty streets and lots of space to roam.

How do you feel about Venice?

When deciding what activities we’re going to do When deciding what activities we’re going to do when traveling, there are a lot of factors to consider - the destination, the weather, your budget, the likes/dislikes of those you’re traveling with...

I also try to think about it from this point of view: If we don’t do __________, will we regret it?

There are so many places in the world that I want to see and so many things I want to do. While I would love to go back to Venice someday, I don’t know if it’ll happen. And even though the gondola ride was expensive, I think I would have regretted not doing it.

So we did it and enjoyed every minute. ✨

Here are the details:

📍 Piazza San Marco
👛 85 Euro x 2 (max 5 passengers per boat so needed 2 boats for our family of 7)
🕗 Approx 30 mins

Prices are a bit lower before 7pm, it just fit our schedule better to go in the evening.

The water was high and we had to lean the boat to the side to clear a couple of the bridges, but the sunset ride through the canals was so relaxing and peaceful. And I’m grateful we got to experience it together. ❤️

If you only do one thing in Milan, do this. Seein If you only do one thing in Milan, do this.

Seeing Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic masterpiece, The Last Supper, was an experience that left me truly speechless.

The Last Supper depicts the passover meal Jesus shared with his disciples before his arrest and crucifixion. Da Vinci masterfully captured the reaction of each subject as they respond to Jesus’ news of his impending betrayal, making the scene come to life.

The work itself remains intact on the very wall on which it was created over 500 years ago. The painting has survived multiple restoration attempts that did more harm than good, a flood, even a WWII bombing that left it exposed to the elements for months.

Today, the Last Supper is carefully protected with temperature and humidity control and limited visitor access. As tickets are limited, they must be purchased in advance. In fact, we were only able to get tickets by booking a tour through @getyourguide and I’m so glad we did.

Not only did we get to see this historical treasure, our walking tour took us to the center of Milan, exploring the history of the city and its landmarks along the way. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, making this experience my favorite of our 2 months in Europe. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
